November 2015 News Updates

Bay Cat
  • On December 16, 2015
Apologies if this picture of our featured animal of the month is a bit fuzzy, but we really wanted to introduce you to the Bay Cat, yet had so few pictures to choose from. That’s because there are so few of these cats around. Especially in the wild.  Endemic to Borneo and about the size of a house-cat, the Bay Cat has been little-studied in the wild, thus photos are also hard to come by. Listed as Endangered by the IUCN, the Bay Cat is forest-dependent, and like all of the species we have featured, is threatened by habitat destruction for – you guessed it – palm oil and other crops.
Thanks to Jim Sanderson can we even have a reasonable picture to show you at all!
